Since we rarely have the opportunity to get all of the parents together to meet about team issues, we wanted to start a team/parent sports blog as another way of communicating with each other. Please just look through the list of posts and respond accordingly. Here are some things that we would like to get feedback from you all on: (1)Right now, we only have 5 girls playing on the elementary girls team. We have heard varying comments about allowing the girls to play in tournaments or just allowing them to compete in local scrimmage games. Please give your honest opinion, in love, so that we know what your desires are for the girls. (2)We would like to do more recruiting for the next season, and want to know how many of you are interesting in helping us with the recruiting process. We want to have more assist coaches and more athletes for all age groups. July is our "break" month and then we start our new season in August. We want to be able to recruit in July for the new season if we can get enough people to help with the recruiting process. Please share your ideas with us to help make the recruiting a success. (3)For the upcoming season, we were thinking of just have a registration fee of $125/athlete to cover facilities rentals only, and then athletes can pay a small fee to enter each tournament, something like $20 per athlete to enter each tournament. Athletes would also pay $55 to cover their uniforms if they need a new uniform. All money raised during fundraisers would go to the facilities rental fund. We would still have some practices at RSCA when other facilities are unavailable, but would attempt to use most of our funds for full-court rentals. July is our "off" or "break" month and then the new season begins in August. Please give your thoughts on this change.(4) If you would like to discuss any items that I have not listed, please start a new comment for everyone to reply to. All I ask is that your comments are out of love and not out of judgement. Our volunteers work very hard to help with the program and we are grateful for everyone involved. It is our goal to build a great program for the youth and to glorify God.
I think until we get more girls that we should just have them playing
scrimmage games because the first tournaments was to much for my girls, they were crying about their legs and Miracle poor thing was talking about being in pain in her sleep. They had fun but I just don't think they can handle tournaments right now.
The tournament was tough with only 5, but the girls worked very hard. Breslyn didn't mind playing the whole time, but we understand that is a lot for anyone. More scrimmages would be great until the numbers are up. I think it would be helpful to have a one page handout about the program and I would be more than happy to hand them out to people. I will pass it out to all of the girls on the soccer team to help with recruiting. I think all of the fees you mention above are very reasonable.
Way to go STARS! You all played GREAT in Greensboro on Saturday! I'm so proud of you and how you are growing as a team.
